Bed Extender question

Hi All

I ordered a 2016 F350 with spray in the bed liner and the bed extender. I plan to purchase a bed mat to keep the spray-in nice and new. Will the bed extender lock into position correctly with the added thickness of the mat? Or will I need to cut holes out of the mat to allow those rubber feet on the bed extender to rest on the bed? I do not want to alter the bed extender - I can always pull the bed mat out when it is time to sell (and everything will look like new).

Any experience with this?

It will work. If anything you can pop off the rubber feet on that one side if you have clearance issues.

There's also little rubber tabs on the sides that make it hard to swing from one side to the other when you have the spray in liner. Remove those and it will work better. You'll see what I'm talking about the first time you go to use it.

Other than that, have fun and congrats!

I think a bed mat with bed liner is a waste of money. Mine has the spray in liner and that stuff is tough! I've loaded wood, appliances, concrete block, bags of stone, and scrap metal. I've yet to scratch anything.
On the other hand, while you are keeping that bed pristine for me when it's time to sell, could you also put plastic covers on the upholstery and rubber floor mats on the carpet? Oh, and wear gloves when you drive it - I don't want any wear on the buttons or steering wheel either.

My bed liner is still looking new. I pressure wash it every other car wash. Still looks nice. I have a 15.

I get that - but a bed mat will cost me $130, and, when I am ready to sell the truck in 3 yrs, potential buyers will go "whoa - it is brand new!"

Or you could understand that a bed mat and a spray-in liner are differing products that have unique advantages and disadvantages, and that having both can provide a truck owner with more flexibility and protection.

For example, items still slide around easily with a spray-in liner. A rubber bed mat is going to provide the maximum amount of skid resistance if someone doesn't want cargo shifting around.

Another example, a spray-in liner offers very minimal dent resistance to the sheet metal. A rubber bed mat is going to provide far superior dent resistance to the bottom surface of the bed.

Another example, a spray-in liner will offer some scratch resistance, but will gouge with heavy scratches or heavy equipment, requiring a patch repair or even a complete re-spray. A rubber bed mat will protect the bed from those heavy scratches.

On the flip side, a bed mat only covers the bottom of the bed, and offers zero protection to the sides.

To me that's better than assuming it's a waste of money.
