While pulling onto the hiway and pulling pretty hard lost engine power all boost then engine truned off. Top of engine is covered in oil..... sugestions on what happened?

Right away, hpo lines one of them bursted, take a look at the hpop pump to see if the "non serviceable. Plug" is missing
This may help because the valley is clear of all that stuff: Lower left corner of the picture, there is a fitting with black tape on it. That is the passenger-side HPOP fitting, and there is a driver-side fitting straight across. The fitting isn't likely to let go, but the hose attached to it is.

As the others suggested you probably blew a high pressure oil line going to one of the heads. If that's the case you lost about 7-10 quarts in probably less than a minute, covering the motor like you see.
Don't worry, this is somewhat common and no damage is done other than having to replace a hose and refill with oil.
The injectors fire using engine oil pressurized at very high pressures (upwards at times to near 3,000 psi). So when you do end up losing engine oil, there is not enough left to create pressure and fire the injectors. The engine shuts down long before you lose all lubrication to key engine parts.
It happened to me years and years ago, only had about 65K miles on the truck when one of the hoses blew. It was under warranty at the time so the dealer fixed it and I went on my way. Sold the truck with the original motor at 225K miles. Obviously no harm came to the motor.

Here are some more pics. The steel braided lines are the HPOP hoses. An unmodified truck will have two of those. They usually have black ribbed wire loom covering so you may have to remove that to see where the line busted.
If you have a mess under the hood and several quarts of oil on the ground then it's very likely a hose burst like the others have suggested.
