MY QUESTION IS, HOW MUCH GEAR CAN I FIT IN MY 8.8 AND D44 WITHOUT MAJOR MODS? GOING WITH A 37" TIRE AND WOULD LIKE TO RUN 4.56. WILL IT FIT? WHAT DO I DO?
8.8 will handle whatever. D44 will have to have a different carrier over 3.73. That's a big tire for a ttb, especially if your going to wheel it. You can run upgraded axle shafts and upgraded covers to help with the flex on the housings. I'm plaining on running a 35 or 36 with a 3.73 in my my 94. But I'm going to a np435 transmission. Was going to run 37's but the cost isn't worth an inch or 2. Check out Randy's ring and pinion for an easy to use sight with tons of stuff.

Caps are generally used for emphasis. All caps is kind of like shouting, and comes across as rude.
As far as recommendations for the front diff, what are you asking for? Recommendations on limited slips or lockers? Or something else? And what are you going to use the truck for? We can't give reasonable recommendations without know how it will be used.
Have you already done the lift required to fitv 37's? Still have the twin traction beam front? Someone said you need a different carrier for the front but I dont know.
4.56 minimum gearing but myself I would go for 4.88 ratio. And for forum courtesy turn your caps lock off please.
Just read what truck you have... I suggest this is the wrong truck for 37's, been there done that! Do a SAS swap or get an f350 to play with big tires.
pretty straight forward to re-gear just did mine this summer to 4.56's
8.8'' just needs ring and pinion, change all bearings and seals while you're in there
dana 44 has a carrier break at i think 3.73.so buy a new carrier and gears and bearings
i got my carrier online for around $80
alright no caps. i'm using the truck for all play. getting her dirty. gonna sink her deep in the mud. take her hunting and float down some creeks. still have twin beams underneath. just wanna figure out what i need to do to get the gears that i want. hurts the bank doing everything all at once. not really wanting to do axle swap. but looks like i am headed that direction. maybe at this point i will have to just get a 3/4 or 1 ton
Yeah, the recommendation is always going to be solid axle swap with big tires. But if your bound and determined to run the ttb, I told you the upgrades, stronger axel shafts and a thick hd differential cover. Maybe someone makes some gussets you can weld on some where and some of them fancy red polyurethane bushings. Up grade all the u-joints. But if your going through all the trouble of that and spending tons of money, why not put it towards a solid axle swap? Run the ttb till you break it or it wears out. Many have ran it and had good luck.
