Good morning everyone. Today marks 8 years of marriage for Jackie and me. We've been through a lot, including two moves across the country, 4 years active duty, building a house, going to college at the same time, and having two wonderful boys.
Unfortunately, she has to work a 12.5 hour shift today.
My truck's alternator decided to quit working properly recently. It was still charging but not enough to keep the batteries fully charged. This was the 2nd remanned unit it had been through in a short period of time.
I did some research and found that the small-case 6g alternators on the 6.0s are prone to failure due to overheating. I contacted a local auto/ag electric shop and they sold me a large-case 3G unit from the 95-97 7.3 trucks, along with a conversion pigtail for the wiring. It bolts right up and is rated at 20 more amps (130 vs 110).
Belated good evening Oregon and everyone everywhere else.
Thought I was going to be in real trouble with my obsolete, non functioning kitchen exhaust fan. After tearing it apart this afternoon and doing a thorough field day on it and then letting it dry for several hours, I just got it back together and it works.
So I'm going to leave it sit for a couple of days to make sure everything is completely dry, (soaked the motor down in CRC Lectra Force Electric Motor cleaner) then do some final testing and put everything back together.
Have to go check on MIL, meet with Hospice and we are going to the State Fair in the next couple of days. Exhaust fan can wait.

It's the grease accumulation from cooking that bothers me more than the farting. I still have my gas mask, but I'm getting tired of mopping the grease off of kitchen ceiling.
