First time noob rebuild!

Ok sweet! I'm located in the East Valley but my dad works all the way up in Phoenix. Quick question: on my manifold when I took it off on one of the ports for coolant it was blocked, one of my buddies said it was from the manufacturing process but I just want to make sure this is how it is SUPPOSED to be. I will post a picture up when i get home of what I'm talking about as well as the rest of the engine condition and the casing number for all of you guys to look at.

Haven't seen those pellets in years, I knew of a character that actually used them, wound up buying the truck off him for about $500 because it was a 1 ton dually with a good box. Pulled the motor using a come a long and a tree
