Remote Locks

My 2008 xl didn't come with remote door locks, so ordered some off Amazon and according to these to enter programming mode the instructions say ,open drivers door and hit unlock, then insert the key and go from off to on 8 time's then leave in "on" position, (the one before motor begins to turn over) then vehicle should be in programming mode .
It's not , question is what is the sequence on a 08 f350 xl v10 ,if it matters this was a government truck before I bought it .
Thank you Ken.

Some trucks don't come with the programming to support key fobs. I have an 06 XLT that didn't come with a key fob when I bought it used. Ford sold me a key fob and explained the programming procedure to me. It wouldn't work so I went back to ford. They said it probably needed computer programming and I booked the truck for them to do it. They ended up telling me my XLT wasn't built to support a key fob! They said its rare but happens. I ended up getting an aftermarket alarm which came with key fobs that work with my power locks.

If the truck goes into programming mode, the door locks will cycle unlock then lock. If this doesn't happen, you can not use a fob or have the wrong fob.

Extracted from Ford documentation...

Turn the key from the OFF position to RUN (not START) position eight times within 10 seconds
with the eighth turn ending in the RUN position. The doors will lock, and then unlock, to confirm
the vehicle is in programming mode.

What is the FCC ID for the fob you purchased?

These are the FCC ID codes I know work with later model Ford vehicles.

Not sure, of the FCC code, but regardless, the truck never went into programming mode ,may have to try as above and see if a remote start will do the trick.,thank you guys.

Do yo even have power locks on a XL? Sounds like you don't have RKE (remote keyless entry) for sure.
Yo can enter your VIN here and see what options it has

Have an 03 XLT . When I programmed my key fob I couldn't get it to program until I latched my seat belt.

You have to be safe. Ford can't be responsible for you falling out of the truck while programming the FOB.
