The battery died in one of my remotes so I took it to Ford and they replaced it and then had to reset the code. When they did this they turned the key on and off a series of times and hit lock and so on. He said if I had another remote it wouldn't work so I'd have to bring it back and he'd reset it. Does anyone know how to do this so I don't have to go back there? With my luck they'll charge me this time.
Also, has anyone had their locks not work? I used my keyless code and when it was supposed to unlock you could hear it unlock and watch the lock shake but it would not come up. The only way I could get in was through the trunk thank god cuz I lock my keys in it! We tried it like ten times and it wouldn't unlock so finally when I got in the back I unlocked it from the trunk lock and they worked and then I locked everything up and tried the keypad again and it worked fine. Neither door would open before. It hasn't happened since. I found that kind of odd!
Is it true? Did they quit making the death mobile Excursions or whatever they are? I heard Ford quit making them cuz they're not selling enough. You'd have to take out a loan just to fill one up with gas. Ha ha! No offense if anyone has one. My Explorer is just as big of a hog.
If yours is a '98 and up, it takes turning the key on and off 8 times. If it is a '95-'97 it takes 5 times. Just turn your key on and off until your locks cycle, leaving your key on when they do. Once they do press a button on each remote you want programed. When you finish turn your key off. Your locks will cycle again to acknowledge the new programing. You have to do all your remotes at the same time or they will loose their programing.
Hey it worked...finally. I had to try it like seven different times cuz only one remote would program. When I was ready to give up and drive down to the dealer I tried it one more time and for some reason they both work now. Ha ha! Thanks for saving me the trip and probably the $$$!!!
