4 Button Key Fob
Try these;
1 -- have ALL fobs on hand, including those which might already be programmed correctly. The programming will "erase" your old ones.
2 -- Unlock the doors. Put the key in the ignition, and turn from "Off" to "ACC" eight times in under 10 seconds. The doors will lock. Leave key in the ACC position
3 -- Program the fobs by pressing any key on the fob. Do this for each fob. The doors locks will lock/unlock
4 -- Turn the key to Off. Locks will lock/unlock, and you are out of programming mode.
5 -- Test all remotes.

Instructions for programming your remote are buried in the owner's manual. This assumes that the remote start is OEM.
The programming sequence is not too difficult but it generally takes a couple of tries to get it right.

I guess they changed this on the newer trucks then? Do you know what year the change was made? I just added a door keypad (wireless) to my wifes 01 this week and the key had to be turned from "Off" to "On" 8 times in 10 seconds ending in On.
I get about this far...

After this point nothing happens. I am going to try it a couple more times here.
Thanks.

After turning the key back and fort 8 times, the door should lock (or lock and unlock, I don't remember which) on their own. Each FOB should cause the door to move the locks depending on which button you push.
Well I think I have narrowed down the problem to the fob that I purchased from the dealer. I can program the current one. Does as ooutlined above. But this new one from the dealer just doesn't work. I even replaced the battery just to be sure. Still nothing. I plan on returning the fob on Monday and trying the new one right in the parking lot before I leave.

Okay. Well it wasn't the fob. Here is what worked for me with the new 4 button fob with the remote starter after digging around and calling a number on the box that the fob came in.
Here is what I used for my 05 F350 with a remote starter to get the fob to work.
1) put the key in and turn the ignition to the ACC.
2) There is a little button close to the remote starter. Hold it till the horn beep's 3 times. ( Around 5 -8 Seconds it took to beep the horn.) And then Release the button.
3) On the fob hit the unlock button.
4) Turn the ignition to the off postion
5) Test you new remote.
Saved $50 bucks.......
