Sneaky 350: You can purchase acetone at most hardware stores, it comes in a can the size of paint thinner and is usally found in that department.(paint) I bought mine at Home Depot!!

Hope this helps,

I have read on here that some badges on the early 99's won't "shine up" with acetone. Does anyone know the truth to this?

I just did mine a couple of days ago. I bought the acetone at Wal-Mart and I also bought 3m cleaner/remover at Wal-Mart to remove the old adhesive. It turned out great!!!

The early 99's (Diesel) had a fender emblem like the v8-v10 crowd. There was no door emblem. I know this is different but am unsure if the badges are made differently like the f-350 or 250 emblems??

Try a product called "GOOF OFF" instead of acetone. I think that it works better and faster. You can find it at most hardware stores, it's used for removing stickers and stuff like that.

DAFBFD58.. People do this just as a cheap mod. It changes the look slightly. You simply are rubbing the black paint off of the emblems so that they are all chrome. As stated in previous post's it will only work on 99.5+ SuperDuty's. I would only use pure acetone and not nail polish as it is usually watered down. To do the procedure you simply buy some acetone, cotton ball's, masking tape, and perhaps some Q~Tips. Tape off the emblems, get the cotton ball wet with acetone, and start rubbing off the paint. It does not take long and if you do take off the XLT stickers you can get new ones on the net for around $7.00. If you want to see what they look like simply look in my gallery.

Hope this helps you.
