Acetone Victory!!

I finally did the acetone trick...I remove the badges first. Kinda a pain on the F-250 badge b/c they are on good. V-10 badges came right off with fishing line. Used braided fishing line b/c the monofiliment line brakes while sawing it behind the badges. It took longer to clean the adhesive off the truck and badge than it did to acetone. But with a little persistance it all came together. Have pictures in my gallery. Check it out if still looking to do this job. Didn't get a chance to do the one on the tailgate....started raining down here in South Texas and got cold.

The emblems look great!!!! I still haven't brought myself to do it yet. I actually purchased two new V10 emblems off of Ebay for $10, so I could practice on them!!!

GOOD JOB!!!

That looks sweet. I'm planning to do the same thing to my truck this weekend if the weather holds out.

I'm not sure if this has been covered or not but I used a product called "GOOF OFF" as well as acetone to do my badges. What I did was tape off around the emblem with 3" tape (2 layers) and a garbage bag from the bottom of the emblem to the ground. Then I took a 3" paint roller minus the handle, dipped it in acetone and wiped the emblem 4-5 times then took another paint roller and dipped it in "GOOF OFF" and went over the emblem 2-3 times and all the black came right off. After the acetone softens the black the GOOF OFF removes all the black easily. Took maybe 5 minutes to do both side badges including clean up. BTY the red XL stayed just fine.

Yeah, that GOOF OFF really helps. I started out using Q-tips and did the rear emblem in about 20 minutes, then I sat down and thought about what else I could use because I didn't have a paint brush.

Thats correct. I don't know what your build date is but mine is 4/98 and tried it but all that came out was a shiny black.
