I think the XLT badge looks awesome on the acetoned backround. Looks like factory. I'm gonna hafta acetone my badges now. Thanks for giving me one more thing to do
I love the exhaust set-up. A little noisy, but I like it. High band performance gain. 0 mpg gain. The Flowmaster 40 was 59.99 from Summit Racing and had it installed at a local shop for $40 plus the chrome 4x18" tips...total was about $90 bucks. The bigger tips made it sound better. I had the 3"x14" tips.
I used braided fishing line to saw the badge away from the truck. There are 2 post on the badge. So to get the fishing line between the post in the middel I used a hacksaw blade with the hole in the end to fish the line behind the badge(very carefully)I put a towel between the blade and paint as to not accidentally scratch the paint. The adhesive is a monster. This stuff really sticks. This is why I used braided line so it won't break while sawing. Then I used 3M adhesive/wax remover to help pull the adhesive off. I put it on and let it soak while I was acetoning the badges...Also had to 3M the badges to get the old adhesive off. I used 3M body mold adhesive to re-attach the badges. I ordered the new "XLT" and replaced that. I just didn't want to screw the paint up on my truck. I'd rather screw up taking the badges off than screw up the paint. Badges are cheaper to replace.
did you get the f150xlt letters or the "new" super duty letters? the 150 are a differen size. i ordered min and she gave me the dimmensions and they were diff. i took a picture of mine scaled them for size and sent them to her. she said she was going to add them to the list for superduty for all others.when i got mine i checked them with a buddies and the were exact replacements
I haven't priced new badges....don't need to now. But when I did order the XLT decal, I specifically told them that it was for the Super Duty. When it arrived, it was the exact duplicate of the original.
thats cause i did the leg work to have exact replicas insted of the 150. not bragging just trying to make sure all the trouble was worth it by helping others.
yours turned out great!
