Truck is a 1996 CCSB 460,4x4,auto(E4od) 218k miles
A couple of months ago I was driving the truck (about 25 miles from home) and the trans started slipping.I limped it home and noticed the fluid was pretty dark and smelled burnt,
I changed the fluid and filter (drained torque converter also) the problem i have now is the truck drives great for about 40 minutes ,shifts good and doesnt slip at all.But after around 40 minutes it starts slipping in every gear .
If I let the truck sit for a few hours it does the same thing all over again
what do you guys think the problem is (overheating?,maybe the tranny is just toast?)
I just think if the trans was junk it wouldnt drive perfect for 40 or so minutes and then just start slipping.
