E4OD Issues

Hey guys, hope someone here can help my figure out what's wrong with my trans (E4OD). Every once in a while it's acting like its going into neutral while I'm driving along, if I let off the gas for a sec it engages again. It's only happened a few times in the few years I've owned the truck and has always ran fine right after letting off the gas, but it certainly isnt something I want to have happen and get stranded somewhere.

I've checked fluid, it's fine, and I've also checked codes and everything checks out. The trans fluid has been changed about 30k miles ago and looks normal. Trans is original trans that came in truck and has never been rebuilt, but has been maintained all it's life with fluid changes.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts input.

Chris

Sounds more like the MLPS. It's on the side of the tranny and it converts what position the linkage is in to an electronic signal for the tranny. They get water and corrosion in them and the tranny will suddenly drop into neutral.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll be honest I usually never touch trannys so I have very limited experiance with them, is the MLPS something that can be removed and cleaned, or is it an item that isn't servicable and needs replaced?

If it's low pressure, would having trans flushed help?

Flushing the trans always helps. It's something that you should do anyways to extend the life of the transmission.

MLPS will have to be replaced. My truck does the same thing once in a while. I just bought a new MLPS but haven't had a chance to install it yet. Mainly because it hasn't acted up lately. I got one from Ford for $55

I would replace the MLPS also, i had the same problem as well, and it was my sensor.
I bought a MLPS sensor at napa for about 60$ it came in a napa box, and had a ford sensor in it along with the updated plug also.
If anyone wants I will post the part #...
