Adding options to new truck
Aftermarket head units will give you just as much if not more features, better sound, USB and AUX ports plus be cheaper to buy and install. A new Ford SYNC with Nav head unit is over $1500 new.
You can get a quote at the dealer for getting remote start.Keyless entry put on the truck but they will probably be more with labor than an aftermarket unit.(depends on what unit you want) The aftermarket systems also have more options.
You can get a fog light kit from Ford BUT you have to replace the body control module (comes in the kit) AND have the new module reprogrammed at the dealer. So figure $325 for the foglight kit and another few hundred $$$ for install at the Ford dealership. You can't just change the control module and drive it to the dealer for reprogramming because the truck won't run. The XLT has a different control module so you don't have to swap them out but the truck still needs to be reprogrammed. Another stupid move by Ford. I already looked into it for my dad and ran it by him, he said forget it. If you don't have inspection where you live, I would just buy some aftermarket fog lights and hook them up to an on/off switch in the cab. Can't do that in my state because the fogs have to turn off when the high beams come on by law here.
I put a Tekonsha P3 brake controller on my dads truck for him. I got the pre made wiring harness from Tekonsha that plugs directly into the trailer brake plug on the truck which is behind the coin holder. I did not have to splice any wires, all I had to do was mount the controller and plug everything in. The P3 has far more options and adjustability than the OE Ford brake controller also. My dad drive a 14' F-250 for work which has the Ford controller and he didn't want it. Plus I have been running a P3 on my truck since 2007 so I know it works.
