I'm going to pick up a 92 7.3 Friday and part of the deal is the guy is keeping the tires anyway I'm just wondering if any of the newer ford 8 lugs will fit or any of the old Chevy wheels will I just need it to get home 200 miles thanks!
E-series vans kept 8x6.5 right until the end, GM used it until 2010, but 88 and later new body trucks are the wrong offset, and the center hole is too small on all of them.
Dodge still uses 8x6.5, but, again, OE offset is not really Ford friendly 94 and later, smaller center hole again.
Aftermarket wheels are not a concern on the center hole, but offset may be a problem.
The wheel mounting surface is considerably closer to the outer lip of the rim, and can cause the wheel to hit the steering knuckle or brake calipers among other things.
I, um, had to use some Chevy wheels on the front for a few miles.
The bolt pattern worked, but the center hole was too small. So it sat about an inch out from the right seating surface, but it let me limp home.
Unless you can grind out the center hole to fit, find yourself some older Ford rims. Usually not too expensive at the junk yard.
Also, not sure how I got it, but I have a rim with a Dodge/Chrysler logo on it, that looks exactly like my ford rims and fits just fine. Somehow. Doesn't appear to have been modified either.

Jeep tray back trucks from about 1975 or so have 8 stud the same pattern, also light international 4x4 trucks from the 60's. I also have a Jeep Comanche j10 with 15 inch ford 8 stud wheels that fit no probs

Reason: wrong word
Ford used the biggest hub pilot of anyone(and the largest wheel bearings) so the rule for OE wheels is Ford wheels go on anything 8x6.5, the other way around ymmv. This is also why the aftermarket wheels will usually fit no matter what they came off of, but they seldom have center caps that will fit over the giant Ford rear hub.
