Hole Pattern on wheels?

Is the hole pattern on a 5x4 1/2 on a ford wheel the same as a 5x4 1/2 chevy. I am looking for a set of slotted mags for my 50f1. It has a 78 Jag IFS, and IRS under it. Any one know what will fit. They are 5x4 1/2. Will ford and chevy both sit it. Thanks.

No clue Rusty. I have never been near a jag at all. I avoid chebies if at all possible.

I would almost bet that the center hole (for the hub) is different between ford and cheby, even if they bolt pattern is the same.

I thought the small cheby one was like 5 X 4 3/4 though.

Look the jag (chevy and small ford) up on tire rack.com. They list sizes and bolt patterns.

As far as the 5 x 4 1\2 it should be the same. What that means is 5 holes in a 4 1\2 inch diameter circle. Now the holes may be a different or the mounting surface may be different but the bolt pattern should be the same.

The Bolt circle x X x.x has to be the same, it's a math thing.
The difference's are in the dimension of the center circle.
Google "bolt circle"+wheel
Someplace will have a list of compatable wheels by size and make.
Honest, would I ____ you?

I got it straight; I was measuring from center to center. Not edge to center. I need 5x4 3/4. Thanks

Rusty, I am in the process of fitting up wheels and tires. I am using Vintique gennie wheels thru Summit. The wheel openings are slightly larger on the wheels than needed for the jag (they clear just fine). I may machine up a couple of rings to fit the wheel tighter to the jag .

HEY rusty, Here are some thoughts ,Do you have a used wheel /tire shop near you ? maybe put a deposit down on a couple of different " known " units on fo size? #2 what does the aftmkt offer for JAGS ?,#3 Use Dykem ,a machinist"s dye on the back of wheel mating surface , then torque to spec"s ..inspect wheel hub and wheel ,there"s always the custom wheel route..Looking Good ..keep those wheels turing ..Good Luck!!

I don't think Dykem is what you are talking about. Dykem is a layout die that dries relatively fast and allows you to scribe lines and be able to see them. I think what you are talking about is what people call bearing blue. I think the correct name for it is pression blue. It is a blue paste that doesn't dry for a while after applied. What you do is paint on a thin layer then put the two surfaces together. Anywhere the pression blue has been "mashed" that is a high spot.

I think it is kinda hard to find. I have found it in one parts place around here.

And remember to use it sparingly. This stuff will get all over everything and turn anything blue.

Rusty, the bolt pattern on the jag is 5 on 4 3/4. Actually, it's 5 on 120mm, but what's .02 inches between us? For mock up, I'm currently using s-10 wheels, which have a center bore that's too small for the jag front hub. I had to enlarge it slightly. There shouldn't be any trouble with custom wheels, which have a larger center bore so they fit everything.

Thanks fellas; I have a set of early 60s Aluminum slot mag wheels. Fronts are 14x5 and the rear are 15x10. But My son-in-law can only find one of the rear wheels so I'm trying to find a match, with no luck yet. They are 5x4 3/4 hole pattern so they will work if I can find a match to the back one.
