I 2nd that chief, as long as you have wrench worthy knowledge, which is why I bought my dent in the first place. I hope I am on the list Hturner. I definitely want to check it out.
I had an MRI 2 weeks ago on my left knee, I finally had my ortho appointment on Friday afternoon. I have old man knees, Brace on left knee now and starting a 3 week injection series to help with the pain. The cold front and rain are really making them hurt today.
No more than 3 weeks and little guy will be here, it's going to be strange but totallty awesome. I just piddled around the house this weekend, a little yard work but nothing on vehicles.

I just got a Pm from Chief. He will not be able to hit the junkyard anytime soon. So we need to decide on a date. The hours are 8-5 M,T,Th,F 8-12 W and 8-2 S.
The only date in January that is not good is the 13th.
There is a Waffle House close we could meet there about 7
A weekend is about the only time I can go. And it will take me about an hour and half to get there.
Do they have a website? I need to look for a tailgate, transmission (maybe)
F250 later model front knuckels, brakes, brake booster, power steering components.
Now that is funny stuff, I just about spit my coffee all over my computer.
Over the past 30 years vehicles have become more reliable and last longer but they have numerous computers all over the vehicle and they seem to have a sensor on just about everything. It is slowly evolving that one day the owner won't be allowed to open the hood.
That's the good thing about these trucks, tough and pretty easy to work on.
You are right, and just because it has computers doesnt mean it lasts longer.
A well taken car of 90s-early 2000s, maybe 80s, will last a very long time. I have worked on new cars that have already had transmission and engine replacements. Faulty sensors kill engines too, and having 60+ YES I said 60+ computers can do WAY more harm.
Plus new cars are cheap, a small wreck will total them. And these new Ford aluminum truck bodies are already seeing problems, cost and labor being too high, and totaling out a brand new truck.

New BMW and mercedes cars no longer allow single testing of a sensor or electronic component, WHY? Because everything HAS to communicate with the computer. No computer code, no testing and isolation. VERY hard to determine where a fault it now too.

I think repair cost on the aluminum body will come done as the shops get better with the process of repairing aluminum.
I check with a body shop right up the road he wanted 4200 to paint my truck
