I thought I'd ask again only because I got no response to the whole question.
I installed trans and EGT Max Tow gauges from Glow Shift, that's another topic, they work great. I got the trans temp answer right away from Mark K, again thank you Mark, I'm still wondering what to watch for for the EGT. I do have a mild programmer installed, I run it at a 25 HP boost, it takes the slug feeling out of the stock 7.3. Without a trailer temps are around 700 to 900 degrees, foot in it for a mountain road or a flat highway depending. I have not had the trailer on the truck yet but wonder if approaching 1300 with a trailer will start a meltdown. The #'s 700 to 900 is an average temp after driving 1000 miles from the Smokey Mountains in western NC to Cape Cod, MA.
Thanks!
Do you really want to find out if 1300 is too much ? Probably depends on the alloys of the piston, maybe that is the answer to ask one of the manufacturers where the safe margin is .... airplane pilots (piston aircraft) have them and racers may have as well. I have a set for the snowmobile but have since forgotten the exact temp ....
