1989 F350 7.5 Manual accelerator cable problems
Okay, in a nutshell, I have been having alot of problems with the gas pedal cable breaking on my 1989 F350 7.5 with 5 speed manual transmission. The first one broke at the area where the gas pedal hooks on, the second one broke at the throttle bosy itself (inner plastic pece broke where it connects to the throttle body). OI noticed that the throttle body cable brackett is different on this truck than the factor equipped 1989 F350 7.5 manual I have (angle is different) I believe the rebuilt engine I have in this truck originally came out of a truck with an auto transmission...I noticed some of the other throttle bodies I have hanging around are diifferent than the one of my crew cab as well...Don't know if anyone out there has the aftermarket cable number for this application or any similar experience with the gas pedal cable problems I have been experiencing.

I had a fitment issue with my idi, it was too long and was binding. After about 30 minutes of arguing about whether my motor was original (too ignorant to know externally a 6.9=7.3) he agreed to order 4 different cables for me to compare to the original and choose what I wanted. I had him order one from a 300, 460, etc. just break out the tape measurer and see what is close.

Thank you. *I did come up with some interesting numbers. The original throttle cable is E7TZ-9A758A which is 36 1/2" long which is much shorter than the one I currently have in there. There are 2 throttle body brackets (which the accelerator cable goes into) one is E7TZ-9728E (which I believe is the common one) and the one I need I believe is E9TZ-9728-B...I had a bunch of the previous ones (for c-6 with kick down cable). I think I can modify one on the c6 ones to the same size as the manual one.
