throttle cable

I bought a new throttle cable for my 85 f150 4x4 and it fits perfectly but i'm only getting about half throttle. I was wondering if there was another cable close to the same they might have givin me on accident. anyone else have this problem. I don't have an old one to go by.

There are several different cables, as shown below. However, I don't know why a different cable would cause that problem.

Could be misadjusted at either the throttle body or at the pedal.

The problems I've seen with throttle cables has been with the positioning of the bracket holding it on the intake manifold. On the V8's the Edelbrock intake manifolds position the carb differently and the bracket is too close to the carb. That creates a lot of slack in the cable such that the pedal has to move a long way down before taking the slack out. I cut and reposition the bracket to take the slack out.

But if you have a stock carb and intake setup it may be that you have the wrong cable and are getting a lot of slack. See if you can put the bracket on differently.
