Taillight, dash light problem
Hey Everyone
OK, so I have a 1980 Bronco 351m and I'm stumped. Here's the problem..I've got no taillights or dash lights. The problem started with the dash lights going out intermittently then finally nothing(for a while, turning the headlights off and back on fixed the problem). I checked fuses-all good. I replaced the headlight switch-no improvement. I needed to replace the turn signal cam and did that THEN all hell broke loose. Tail lights went out(maybe they were out before and didn't notice) and had only one brake light and intermittent signals-hazards worked. I checked the forums and found out it could possibly be the turn signal switch assembly-replaced that. I've also checked all terminals several times and appear good. Now, I have brake lights, all signals work along with hazards, headlights(always have worked) but no tail or dash lights and I have intermittent power at the 4amp panel light fuse and when it does show up, which is seldom, blows the fuse. I'm assuming the power for the panel lights comes from the headlight switch, that's why I replaced it. I've followed the wiring to the taillights and all appears good. I've also pulled the gauge assembly and checked the back- all looks good. All wiring under the dash looks good-no obvious breaks etc. It's seems to me that I have a short and/or bad ground in the panel fuse circuit but can't find it. Maybe something else is included on that circuit? Any ideas???
