06 Engine Questions

So I've owned a 6.0 for 8 months and 24,000 miles. Only problem was an oil cooler. I did an EGR delete and I've got my engine light on. Has there been any actual problems with running the block off plate? I don't have my valve plugged in. Anyone able to shed some light on this? For this engine being Ford's disaster engine. I've not had a lot of complaints about it. I got a glow plug that's shot. Other than that it's a fun truck to drive. Any recommendations? I gave Torque Pro. My FICM is aging and it is only getting 46.5 volts. But I'm aware of it and I'll replace it whenever it goes.

Plug your valve back in and either mount it back in its spot or zip tie it to something. It will effect the fan operation if not plugged in.

Yeah, you've discovered what all of us know. The 6.0 reputation is undeserved and mainly the result of uninformed or dishonest mechanics.

As stated above. Plug the EGR valve back in. I'd go ahead and reinstall it. I haven't heard anything negative about running with the CEL on, but it will mask a CEL for another reason.

If you can afford the down time, we can re-program your ECM to get rid of the check engine light. If you've already got an SCT tuner, we can send you a tune file for the SCT that would do the same thing. Of course, if you have an older SCT tuner, the EGR delete functionality is already embedded, so I'd just go route and save the cash.

If you are going to send your ECM on across, you could shoot that FICM on over and we could hit it all at once. How cool is that?

Can't afford the downtime without a rental to replace it. Warranty will give me one but there has to be a repair ongoing. Also has to be at a shop. What about fuel mileage. I'm getting 12-15. I just did an injector contributions test and cylinder 2, 5 and 8 are at -4 at idle??

Don't wait to have your FICM repaired or it could cost you much more in the long run.
