Unplugged my EGR and check engine light?

Well I think im going to keep my 6.0

The more I drive it the more I like it, with an exhaust and an intake, she should be good.

Anywho, I went to unplug my EGR and the check engine light came on...I thought it was going to make run better?

The 06 and up trucks will set a CEL when you unplug the EGR valve. Only way around this is to get a tuner that will disable the EGR function through the programming.

Just an FYI...You do know that an aftermarket intake is a no no with a 6.0 right? As far as unpluging the EGR valve to make the truck run better, i'm not sure what you are wanting to get out of that? As far as running better, unless the valve is pluged up and not working correctly, you will not see any difference in the way it runs. Powerstroke is right if you do want that valve unpluged you will have to have custom tunning to turn off the cell. Also incase you haven't seen Cheezit, our friendly naborhood tech, has discovered that not having the valve pluged in effects the cooling fan operation. Somthing along the lines of it won't let the fan kick in all the way to full speed.

a little info on this.
basicly the non oem filters such as banks and aef flow more air at rpm's above 3500 rpm. this sounds great till you realize that only gives you 500 rpm of more air flow if your lucky. the air flow incress is only usefull when its in its power band. the 6.0 starts making power and torq at around 2k and is past peak at 3k.
the oem filter filters better then any filter out there you could by. the thing will hold about 3 lbs of dirt. were as the aftermarket tends to flow it. Compression ration being at 18:1 or something close to that dirt will very quickly dust an engine and turbo as well.

Makes sense to me

An exhaust wouldn't hurt though?

Let's say straight pipe turbo back?

You haven't spent enough time on here educating yourself about your truck, if you think using an aftermarket intake and unplugging the EGR valve are going to help your truck run better.

imo the best down pipe is the oem one but I may be alone on this one. it fits, doesnt rattle doesnt rub. 3.5" down pipe works too. 4" pipe you get in to rubbing and rattleing issues with some diminished low end power as well. no larger then 4" in the system. and you should be fine
