Posted question in the 61-66 forum and members were unable to help. I am having a heck of a time determining the size of the 2 screws/bolts that secure the timing pointer to the block. Purchased a couple of screws the auto parts person assured me were correct only to find they were not and now faced with trying to get a tap past the balancer to clean the thread. The engine is a 390 from a 64 Thunderbird.
From what I can gather, there appears to be 2 screws: 373713-S, obtained the info from Ford Truck Master Catalog, still in the infancy stage of how to use it. After extensive search I could not find any additional info in the MC to ID the screws/bolts? Posting link to Text sheet. Click magnify icon(+) to enhance.
It looks same/similar to the bolt purchased at the auto parts store, perhaps the wrong size, or the threads in the block are stripped. The bolt appear to be of a 'self tapping' type I am so not sure there would be a thread count? Thank you for the info, at least I now know the sales person knows what he is talking about !!
