I picked up my 2005 black & grey V10 just about a two months ago. In that time I have had two serious offers to buy it from me. I spent too much time looking for my X to just sell it off.
Stating the same thing I did, just differently, or was my post confusing when I stated "And in the F-series trucks they were available starting with the 1999 MY truck."?

Was just pointing out the fact that Ford started pumping out the 99 MY Super Duty line several months before most manufacturers debut a new MY. If you think about in terms of 7.3 production in Super Duty pick ups,
98 1/4 year (build dates 2 & 3/98
99 full year
00 full year
01 full year
02 full year
03 1/4 year
So you are correct in 4+ years. Perhaps closer to 4.5 years. Ford sold a lot of 99's. Recall hitting a million units sold within 2 years of production.

Yeah, I guess we're saying the same thing then.
To me, it doesn't matter WHEN Ford started offering the '99 F-Series trucks with the 7.3L PSD, just that it happened with the 1999 model year truck, because I'm basing the length of time the 7.3L was offered by MY, not by build date. So, umm, yeah, 4+ years, like we both said, LOL!
I do feel bad for the people who have the E99 trucks tho, because of how different they are from the L99+ trucks.
