Legally? Nothing you can do will increase the towing capacity.

Honestly I have to say you have the wrong vehicle to seriously consider towing 6000-8000 pounds. That 302 is just not going to work, especially with 3.55 gears.
What gains should i expect by swapping the 3.55 to a 4.10 or 4.30. Ive even considered a 4.56 but im not sure if that have that size that fits the axle.
The manual transmission is the weak link in that truck which is little more than an F150 with a larger rear axle, as it sits right now it's only rated to tow about 4000lbs(7800lb GCWR). With an auto trans and 4.10 gears tow capacity still only goes to 6k which gets you closer but still well short of the goal. Bottom line is you're bringing a knife to a gun fight so there is no way you can win, time to start looking for a different truck.
Don't use the bumper to tow anything. Get a real hitch. I also don't know if you have a friend, etc.. that sets up rear axles, but swapping axle ratios isn't a cheap endeavor.

Uhm what, are you talking hauling around a 4000lb slide in camper AND towing 3000-8000lbs? Are you talking about double towing?
A 1990 2wd f250 with a 302, decent chance it's a light duty model. Does it have a full float rear axle? Does it have overload springs that mount above the main spring with pads on the frame?
