compatible transfer case

I own a 1979 Bronco with a 351M and C6 transmission. I have a 1994 F-150 4x4 with a 351W and an auto trans I would like to swap into the Bronco. Will the transfer cases interchange between the two? I wanted to use the transfer case in the Bronco but don't know if it will bolt up to the 94' tranny.

Pretty much any t-case from 97 and older ford will bolt right on

Any of them will bolt on but since your 94 has an aluminum transfer case is an aluminum one you need to double check you 79 bronco has an aluminum one otherwise the shaft in the transmission is different.

Steel transfer cases (like NP205 and NP203) have a long out put shaft where as aluminum transfer cases (like BW1356 and BW1354) have a short out put shaft.

trust me I know I had to do lots of research before picking up my C6 transmission for my 88.

compatible transfer case

Thanks for the input guys. I need all I can get. I was concerned about the out-put shaft on the 94' tranny not working with the old 79' transfer case.

What year? Expeditions didn't come out until after '96 (the newest half ton trucks this forum covers), so you're probably asking in the wrong place. Not that we mind others dropping by, but a lot of us don't pay much attention to the newer trucks so we won't be able to help much.

I think you are wrong.
There are three output shaft lengths with 4x4 C6 transmissions, but if you use the adapter that comes with the trans the amount of spline shaft that goes into the transfer case is the same for all 3.
You can use the NP205 in place of the 1356 but you will need to notch the aluminium adapter for the shift rail on the Np205. Look at the face of the steel adapter the np205 mounts to and you will see the notch I'm taking about.
If going with the double cardan front shaft there may be clearance issues with the pan on the E4OD.
Also, the Bronco speedo is run off the transfer case and the 1994 case has no provision for the speedo gear. The 1356 will make your rear driveshaft extremely short and with its extra width I would measure to see if it fits the narrower frame of the bronco.
