Ive got a 77 f250 highboy with the divorced transfer case and I want to know if any one here has swapped the divorced setup with a mated one. The mated trans-case is in a 80 bronco with the 400. the truck used to have a 400 as well. any info will help.
What transmission do you have? What engine are you going to use? Ford made these mated combos from the factory. You will need a different tailhousing for an auto or an adapter for a manual to t-case. Make sure your shaft splines are the same number and length.
I have a c6 in the truck now I will be sticking in a 460. the bronco has a c6 and the mated trans & case. I just want to know if the front axle will line up with the transfer case, so I can get rid of the divorced BS
What T-case do you have now and what is the one in the 80 bronco? If you have a 205 and your going for something that is less might be easier to leave it divorced.
if you plan on lifting the truck, stick with the divorced case, it is a really good setup, the drawbacks to the married case in a highboy is the front driveshaft will have a serious angle problem unless you have a high pinion frontend and not much lift because i think the engine sits higher in the frame (that will open a can of worms in this forum) and when you put the bolt up case in you need to keep the same tilted back angle on the engine which tilts the front output way up, besides the case you are wanting to put in is i think a 1356, aluminum, they wear, they break , they leak(so does a 205, but you can run muddy water in them and not hurt them)
