Maytag, I just went back out with a flashlight and looked again. I cant find the other half. I'm just thinking someone must have modified something, somewhere, at sometime!
Thanks!
Not all trucks were 'plug & play' ready; there are a few instances of this that come up in searches.
My F250 (also an 83) was like this too, even though it had a gauge cluster.
I ran one wire from the coil to the donor tach, & another from a key-on live point for power.
I have seen many instructions on the forum on how to wire the tach direct.
I was planning on pulling the circuit board/isolate the circuit board from the tach bolts as I have no idea if having the circuit board touching would cause gremlins or melt something.
I went to the junk yard today and found a truck with both ends of the under hood tachometer plug. I removed the female end and took it home with me.
On my truck I began to unwind electrical tape from the same area of harness I had removed the donor plug from. Guess what I found? A green and a black wire that had been cut. Donor plug is installed and I have a working tachometer.
