Just curious what the factory offered for valve covers in these bumpsides. I see a whole lot of Ford blue on everything from the inline six's to the bigger V8's. I assume most paint theirs when they do rebuilds. Did Ford paint them blue from the factory, or a different color?
But for thems that did there's at least three different "Ford Blue" colors e.g. "Old Ford Blue" and then, these colors also slightly differ in shading when offered up by the different manufacturers. I don't think anyone but engine restorers get too concerned about this.
Thanks everyone for the replies. So if I understand this right, the plant did paint the valve covers, but could've been different shades of Ford blue? I just want the motor to look as stock as possible is all.
Three shades of blue on various pieces. This is what happens if you don't paint everything at the same time, or at least make a note of what color you used and what brand. Whenever I am standing at the paint section at the store I am wondering "Crap! did I used Ford blue, or Old Ford blue?"
