I got in my truck this morning and as soon as I started it I noticed 2 dash warning lights came on. One said "rear antilock" (in yellow lights) and the other said "brake" (in red lights). I haven't done anything with the rear end that I would have bumped a sensor. What would cause that light to come on all of a sudden? And where might the sensor be located? It's an '89 F250 XLT 4WD. Automatic. Any ideas???
I see a MAX level but no MIN level. And I've never noticed where it was until today to compare 😬. I'll add some and see what happens. I haven't noticed any leak.
The level drops as the pads and shoes wear. The sensor is on the side of the reservoir
I didn't end up adding anything and the light went off on its own?? I still might add a little bit. I changed the front pads and rotors less than 3000 miles ago but not sure what the rears are like. But the other odd thing is the truck stalled twice today. Once going in reverse and then about 10 minutes later just sitting at a stop sign. I don't know why it's acting so goofy today. It's usually my most dependable vehicle lol.
When you pressed the pistons back in did you open the bleeder screw or just push the piston in? If you just pushed the piston back in then the level in the reservoir should have been full. When the reservoir level is low enough to trigger the sensor and turn on the red brake light it will also turn on the RABS light.
and the brake like will come on if the parking brake is not completely released.
i have to use an extra spring on my parking brake to keep the light on the dash out.
Add fluid to your reservoir...fill it to the max line. Mine did the same, they are very picky about how much fluid is in there. It is cheap and won't hurt anything to add some. When both the ABS and BRAKE light are illuminated, it is because of low fluid level in the reservoir.
