I'm looking at buying some stuff called B-quiet sound deadner for my reg cab truck. its sold in 12 sq ft rolls and 50 sq ft rolls. How much does it take to do a cab? How much of this stuff did you guys use on your trucks?
Thanks,
Technically sound deadener is only needed to eliminate rattles. Are you wanting to cover the entire interior floor, behind the door panels, back of cab, and under the headliner?
I bought a pack from BG that has 9 20x29" sheets for my scab. Just putting it in strategic places has helped a ton, but I think I'm going to need another batch to do the roof and doors. The one box would probably cover a regular cab pretty well, which in my case was about 36'sq.
The 50' roll for you should give you enough to really cover everything.
Rattles was the wrong word to use. Buzzes, or more accurately, vibrations typically caused by resonate frequency of the vehicle is what I was referring to. The link is for the most respected name in automotive sound deadening in the car audio world.
Hell I grew up in the seventies ,we just turned the 8 track up louder, of course you had a power booster...talk about resonance..I like what NBC Steve said" Dynamat the best"
Thanks, When I gutted the cab, I took out the tar paper stuff on the floors and trans cover. Is the dynamat, b-quiet, sound deadner the same as that stuff or was that to protect from heat and I need some heat shield too? Since I can't find a blue rubber mat to replace the original one that crumbled away, I'll put down carpet that has the jute backing.
