Does anyone use any kind of sound deadner on these old trucks? seems like my cab makes alot of noise I don't expect to be quite really but would like to muffle some if i can.
If I remember correctly this issue was discussed in some length over on the H.A.M.B. You can buy stick on sound deadening material from many of the vendors but you can also use the silver stick on roof repair material from the Home Depot or elsewhere for a lot cheaper. I buddy went the Home Depot route on his Model A and is very happy with the resulting quieter ride.
I think audio installation shops carry sound deadening/insulation stuff. One brand is called dynamat if I'm not mistaken. I plan on installing some in my truck.

Reason: accuracy
Then there's the lizard skin crowd. It's a thick water based brush on product that deadens sound. Then there's the homemade lizard skin guys that mix cheap latex paint with micro-spheres, a thickening agent often used with epoxy. Good for heat and noise. My '59 is extremely loud in the cab with the old diesel and a straight pipe exiting just behind my door. No headliner and steel door panels. Pretty obnoxious. I will be following this closely to see what you try and how it works. That's a very handsome truck in great shape.
Your truck does look good. Just the right patina to give it a sinister look about it. Kinda like the truck in the movie "Duel" that scared the bejeezus out of Denis Weaver for an entire day.
Yes, do a search over on the HAMB (Jalopy Journal) to find several threads on insulation.
Quite a broad range in terms of effectiveness and price.
Dynamat likely at the top, at least in price; quite spendy. (Also, no need to cover every
panel in its entirety.)
I plan to do under the seat and tank then the back of the cam behind the seat. The floor and fire wall. Hoping this will help a little. might even have the body under coated. Thank you for all the replies they have been very helpful

I think that was Steven King. We never saw the truck driver, just his boots....Great show. Before that we had 'Hot rods to hell' with a similar plot and ending.
