Operator Commanded Regeneration (If Equipped.) ????

I have seen where other people have asked if you can do a manual regen if you do not have a manual regeneration option on your truck. But I have not seen a definitive answer. When doing a dream build on a F350 there is an option for a manual regen on the XL and XLT only. I was hoping that the higher trim levels had way to do this through the dash display. The online owners manual states that there is a "Operator Commanded Regeneration (If Equipped)".
So is there a way to do a manual regen on the non XL/XLT 6.7?
Any help appreciated.

Good luck. I don't think there has been a clear answer on this yet.

I believe someone in Canada had the feature enabled on his lariat truck, but, others who try fail to get anywhere. It might be something like dealer cooperation, where some dealers don't mind doing things and most dealers are too scared to do anything other than what the manual says to do.

It would be nice to have, but, on the other hand, all you have to do is drive the truck and let it do what it's supposed to do.

Thanks for the reply. It does make sense to me that Ford offers it on two trim levels only.

There is a way to force a manual regen on all trucks but as I understand it now, it can only be done by the dealer through their custom scan tool connected to the truck unless the truck is an XL or XLT and has the option specified in its programming to allow operator commanded regens.
My dealer had never even heard of Operator Commanded regens before...

Sorry - but that makes absolutely no sense to me....

It may not be as great as it sounds. I saw a guy on you tube doing one, and you can only do it with the truck stationary, not while driving. He also said it used almost a quarter tank of diesel

I suspect the lower trim availability is because it was meant more for commercial use trucks that idle a lot?

I have done regens

I run my regen via my edge insight. It is stationary, I it runs at 2000 rpm for about 10 minutes, it loud. It does not take much diesel. I glad I have the feature.

Is there a way to ask this of a Ford rep on this site. I have seen where Crystal and maybe someone else can get a response from Ford. I did ask my local dealer (sales person) and they did not have a clue what I was talking about.

The Ford option to do Manual Regen/Operator Commanded Regen was a $250 option available on the XL and XLT models. Was not an option on any other model. You had to select the option when ordering the truck to have it available and most dealers had no clue so they didn't add it for in stock trucks.

The dealer an use his computer to force a regen if the diagnostics call for it to be performed.

The Edge CTS and CTS2 can do a manual regen.

It is a stationary feature and as you discovered, only available on XL and XLT.
If you want a fancier truck, the Edge Insight supports this feature once the Edge supports the model you would buy (for example, it may not support a 2016 for many months).

It's a very loud procedure and wastes an incredible amount of fuel for not going anywhere (not 1/4 a tank though).

Only trucks with the basic Driver's Information Display (DIC) can have this feature activated. Trucks with the advanced DIC, including Lariat and above, do not have this option available and cannot be activated via IDS at the dealership.

Manual regen on trucks with the advanced DIC must be done with IDS connected only.

There is nothing the dealership can do to change this. As posted already, there are aftermarket solutions available.

No problem.

Believe me.... Even after I was told the option wasn't there with the advanced DIC, I tried and tried with IDS to find some loophole to give me manual regen on the dash cluster, but nothing was there.

Maybe the 2017s will include this in the options for all trim levels.

I have a 2019 XLT, and want to know if this can be programmed either through ForScan on my own or have the dealer perform the update.
