Did the 2BBL and 4BBL 352's use different throttle cables? I converted my '66 to an Edlebrock Performer intake/Holley 670 Avenger carb and, while pleased with it overall, my throttle cable has a pretty good "S" curve in it with some binding, along with laying on one of my valvecovers. What is the best way to correct this? Pictures?
I just looked at my '66 with a Performer(been awhile since I installed!)- I added a short~1 inch piece of metal to the cable bracket on the manifold. It moved the cable up and slightly forward to better line up with the carb. Painted black it's almost invisible.
Hope this helps!
I don't think a 4bbl was even an option in '66 ?
Are you using stock valvecovers, Putt? Directly from the firewall, my throttle cable is inline with my tall Milodon valvecovers, thus the reason for the "S" curve. I'll try to get a picture or two this week.
Like I said its been awhile since I installed... After another look and dredging in the memory banks, I see what I did.
I also moved the acc. pedal bracket up about an inch maybe slightly more. The bracket is big enough to cover the old holes, you just need to add a couple and trim the firewall insulation. My valve covers are aluminum Holley/MT covers and they are taller than stock, altho I don't remember how much. I think I pulled the cable and bracket and checked the location by "eyeballing" how far up I needed to go. It does change the pedal position, but not so much that it is a problem. It just took a little while to get used to it.
Memory is a terrible thing to lose, wish I could find mine!!!
