I thought it was the second crank? Heck it was after midnight and 6 beers in....I don't remember. All I know is we did not have to sit there and crank forever like I thought we would and have heard most guys have to do. And boy did it sound good when it lit!!!

So what tunes u running if you still have to send yours back?
haha! I'll have to see if Travis can help me get one tomorrow if he's not busy doing something else. I just have the canned tunes on my TS. They actually run surprisingly good for canned, but that'll change. Going with Gearhead.

I talked to him the other day and he said about a 2-3 days turnaround on a reburn. I'll send it once we get down to the coast Monday and I won't be towing for a week.

I'm stoked for you, Byron. I'm really happy to hear that it's running like it should be. Keep on truckin'!

Thanks Nate! I really appreciate it. I am pretty darn happy with it.

Here is my towing update:

The good: runs amazing, pulls extremely well, EGTs were manageable. Only spiked on hard pulls but they would level out and leave me power to spare. I am stoked and feel like I reached my goal with Ruby as far as that goes. A bigger turbo in the near future will probably help bring down the EGTs even more, but I was only spiking at 1350* on hard pulls but I could let off a little and even it out with power to spare. It would stay at 1150-1200 consistently after leveling off. I was able to hold my speed and accelerate up some of the grades through the Hill Country with no issue.

The bad: coolant temps started getting hot which made oil temps too high. I replaced the thermostat last week with a NAPA 195, which is too hot. But the temps kept climbing and I had to run it easy to get where I was going. I am going to change the thermostat with Riff Raff 180 this week, but I think my radiator is shot. It would get up to the A on the gauge and not come down unless I down shifted to use the fan and didn't go too fast. I couldn't get it to go below the M. This truck has never run hot, even in desert temps of 120*, so it is perplexing to me that it just came on like this. It's happened to me before though with a Jeep I had. One day good, and then out of the blue it wouldn't cool down.

I'd try the 180 first Byron. I put one in and it did help my temps. Living where you and towing with it quite often you don't need anything higher than that.

Thanks Darin. I am really hoping that's all it is. Do you of anywhere else to get one besides Clay? Maybe I can find one today rather than having to order and wait on it.

It's a 190 not a 180 but might work... I have this same one and it runs at the "O"... I never tow anything though so I couldn't tell you how it behaves when it's being pushed.

Thanks dudes. I ordered one from Clay and should have it Thursday. I'll update you when I get it in. I have hope that I don't have to replace my rad after talking at length with him today, but we'll see. If this does not address it, that will be my next step.

It doesn't exist as far as I could tell. I switched to the late model pump so I could run the 180. I'm a hater of the IH pump anyways, so it wasn't a big deal to me. Lol. Love my OEM Ford pump and diesel site coolant filter.

One more question Byron, is your fan clutch working properly?

I was looking at those pumps on dieselsite. What is the big difference OEM Ford and International?

Darin, you and Travis will probably flame me for this, but I am not sure how to tell exactly. I can tell you the behavior which has me thinking it is. I can only kind of spin it when the truck is off. It's pretty tight. It was on most of the time towing down to the coast when it was running hotter than normal. When I did manage to get it down to cooler temps (the O on the gauge) it would shut off. So the little I know, that behavior tells me it's working. I am guessing if it was working I wouldn't hear at all, correct? I can tell you one thing. It was pretty annoying to hear that thing screaming most of the time. That was definitely not something I heard before when it was running normal temps. I would only hear it come on after decent climbs or hard runs.
