For a while i had surging seemed like it was mostly before 150 degrees, and only under moderate load. low or high throttle position would pull fine.
I learned to unplug the EBP sensor, i did and it stopped the surging, but i also lost my turbo at idle, it only chimes in once throttle is applied and that makes me sad, the 6.0 is known for the idle!
I pulled the sensor one weekend and cleaned it out by filling it with carb cleaner and draining a few times, lots of black came out. looked pretty clean anyways, put back on its still surging.
Keep in mind once unplugged, runs fine just idle sounds like poopy
did you clean the tube that feeds the sensor?
Any live data to read the EBP sensor like Scan Gauge2 or Torque Pro? That is the key to determining if the sensor is really bad, live data.

Wish i would have thought of that sooner. I have both. What's the good and bad readings during KOEO/Idle/Driving ??
If you have the scangauge code that would be swell too, day off work. so lots of time for tinkering. thanks for the help
EBP, MAP, and BARO should all be very close to each other @ KOEO.
also like mentioned above, did you clean the EBP sensor tube that goes to the exhaust manifold?

I cleaned what i could get at, i did not want to risk trying to remove it at the manifold as it would have to get torched off im sure. Is it safe to stick some line down there and clean it while still on? Or will that send too much crap into the turbo
i would remove it.
they look like they will be a pain to get off, but most come out without to much trouble.
i woudnt want any of that chunky/hardened stuff going through the turbo.
Is your baro reading in kpa?
Kpa to psi conversion = kpa/2
Your chasing a surge?
The surge goes away with ebp unpluged?
Install a knowen good vgt solenoid and retest.
Its surging because ebp is the output verification of vgt function. Take away the ebp from the pcm and the pcm goes to default value and stops tring to correct a bad vgt.
Correct, surge goes away when i unplug EBP, i will not have access to a known good VGT solenoid. I don't mind having my EBP disconnected but my exhaust sounds terrible at idle like that, don't think any performance is lost though.
If it was in kpa, psi would be 14.25 which makes it all match quite well. So that would put the EBP at a good reading? So that means EBP is/could be good, VGT bad? How else can i test VGT without putting a good one in there
Short awnser to vgt being bad... yes.
Very hard to test for this wich is why I suggest a knowen good before purchasing one.
You can try to active command rpm, vgt, egr while monitering ebp, iat2 and mgp. The hard part there is knowing exactly what your looking at if you can get it to do it under no load wich is unlikely.
If you do a search here on fte you will find this concern and further discussion on it.

Yeah, it usually only does it on moderate load, up a hill. We have one stop light that is on an incline which is one i like to test it on.
