Good catch on the tread pattern, I was looking at the frame and springs for a bit, then noticed the direction of the tread. Went to post and noticed you beat me to it. Good catch.
Yep, that's the spare, had a leak and needed to get it on its wheels. Haven't made too much progress lately been doing some customer work. Will post some pics when I get a little farther along with the rad install. Jim
If you haven't purchased the floor pan's yet, take a look at flashback100s. Not the cheapest but we were very pleased with the quality (thick sheet metal) and we felt good knowing they were fabricated in America.
I'm finally back at it, can't believe its been 6 months. Imagine this, life got in the way, who would have known So some minor progress on Henry, mainly cleaning up some unfinished things and getting the Intercooler to fit. He's moving a little slower because he has to share shop time with his new girlfriend, Dottie. And I neglect him on a regular basis to spend time with mine.
Making some room.
Looks like it will fit.
It does indeed fit. Radiator on the way. Now a pic of Henry's new Lady, with a very dark secret.
More updates soon. Jim
When I picked up Dottie all I saw was a clean low miles Galaxie, cheap. I saw 54K on the clock, solid quarters, reasonable paint and a nice clean interior. Sure the brakes were bad and she didn't run but thats cake work. I had no idea what she was hiding.
So I was happily working along fixing her brakes thinking I was only days away from cruising my new girl. I happen to notice a small hole in the frame rail at the front of the wheel well. Being the inquisitive type I got my chipping hammer and gave it a tap, that was a BAD idea.
Apparently she had at some time some back alley "cosmetic" surgery to hide her osteoporosis. Not Botox but a back brace. She has a case of frame rust the likes of which I have never seen.
She had become more of a unibody from the firewall forward, confirmed when I removed the radiator support bolts and the frame dropped 3 inches. Those nice solid fenders where about the only thing holding the bumper on.
So what was supposed to be a quick cruiser has become as big a project as Henry. Her old frame was deemed non-repairable and the search for a replacement yielded nothing. So creativity in aplenty I began thinking outside the box, so to say. How about a Tbird? Sure, it's only a shorter wheelbase, shorter frame extension in the rear and the body mounts are different, simple
Thats why the rails looked so good someone covered them up.
I didn't think exhaust was supposed to be structural. Had to chain the pieces together to roll it out of the shop.
Much easier to roll around though.
Shes sitting on her new frame now, I'll post pics of the mods when I get them finished up
