Throttle linkage

I am having a problem with my trottle linkage binding in my 68 f250 with 360. The pedal is sticking and the linkage is binding. How do you fix it?

Start with the simple stuff like the floor mat and carpeting to make sure that's not the issue. Then check all the pivot points. Clean and lubricate. Then rip it all out and put in the throttle from a dent so it's smooth.

Figure out where it is binding by doing some actual troubleshooting. Yes, that means opening the hood. It could be as easy as finding a spark plug wiring interfering with the linkage.

Somewhat sarcastic rant has now concluded.

x2 on the newer throttle linkage set up. On my '70 the main part of the linkage bolted to the intake was brazed. I noticed it was fixed shortly after I got it. Noticed bad throttle response one day and gas pedal would go to the floor and wouldn't do much. After a little hunting, I figured out it the large angled part had started to crack where it was bolted to the intake. So, I fixed it, then as I was looking for parts at the junkyard one day, I took a few throttle linkages from later 70's trucks and found one that worked in my truck. Only 1 linkage as opposed to many moving parts to operate throttle.

Yeah, thanks for picture. Same setup I'm using, just my linkage is a little different. Made more sense to me than all the stuff that was on there before. Kept all the old stuff in garage. Just thought if I could simplify, why not?

All that bellcrank, monkey motion linkage never made much sense to me. My original 6 cylinder had that goofy setup to change the direction of motion, and I get that. But what's the purpose on a V8 truck? I have a V8 pedal in mine now, and a straight adjustable rod off a later truck I plan to use.

Someone mentioned that if a motor mount broke the funky trapeze contraption would avoid going to wide open throttle if the engine reared up.

Dunno if it's a myth or not and I have never really analyzed whether that could happen.

Hmmmmm. I suppose it's possible. Back in the day, I had a Galaxie with a manual transmission and a broken motor mount. If you got on the gas, the motor would rear up and jam the clutch belcrank. I had to use a prybar to get it loose and let the motor fall back into place.

X2 but on my bump. never had a throttle hang wide open tho. besides, I know where the ignition switch is and how to put it in nuetral. Some people aren't the quick tho. I'd rather blow up my engine than kill someone.

And my linkage looks just like the pic above.
