I almost teared up

Is it OK if I put this in the bump forum?

So, some may remember, my youngest boy had told me in the past, " Dad, I'm really not into cars like you and my brother. I don't really want to work on them".
Last night I asked him what he had in mind for wheels as he is 15. I also commented, "too bad you don't want to work on them".
He told me that it wasn't that he didn't want to work on them it was that he didn't want to work on someone elses (his brothers). So, i perked up and ran thru the questions, car or truck? "Truck" bump or dent? Glazed look in his eyes, took a stroll down the alley to look at a neighbors dent and showed him the difference. he said he liked 'em both.
Mamma came home and told her the good news then I asked, Can I spend a bunch of money on another truck? She said, "we'll talk about it..."
It wasn't a NO
trying to figure out where I'm going to park it...

I'd impress on your young man that what comes around, goes around and will generally result in reciprocity when he might need help from big brother some day. And big brother should be reminded of who is helping too.

A father's greatest asset is the patience to realize that eventually sons come around. The prodigal, in a sense, returns!!!! :-)

HIO, I did take the time to have a conversation with younger brother. He saw the light!!
He even helped me sound mat the back of cab between the tank while older brother was absent with other responsibilities.
Prodigal? in a sense maybe. #1 son (the oldest) is more like his dad, a hands on get it done kind of guy. #2 son (second born) is more like his mom, very talented in artsy drawing kind of guy. I'm hopeful he becomes really good at drawing and painting. I see some awesome paint jobs in his future.
Completely different kids, but the word "mine" has been a word that The Boss and I tried to remove from their vocabulary from a very young age.

That's the sense I was meaning. Although he "strayed from the path" of loving trucks, he has found a way to return!

We had 5 children and it is entirely beyond me how they all came from the same two parents. I consistently have to give my wife a searching glance! lol
