I own a 1971 Ford F-250 Custom that I'm currently working on, and I'm having a load of issues with my carburetor linkage.
It is extremely fragile. Half of the time when trying to start my truck, it will break, and I will have to affix a new one to get going.
It drives me insane. When I'm trying to fix starter issues, I have to halt all progress to fix the carburetor linkage.
I've gone through too many, and am looking for help now.
Do you guys know where to find a good quality carburetor linkage (that won't break when I use the throttle), or any solutions to make sure it doesn't break?
OEM throttle linkage is pretty strong stuff. Is this OEM linkage?
Is your linkage adjusted so that when the pedal is on the floor, the throttle blades are wide open? If you are wide open before the pedal is floored, you will have a lot of stress on things.
Is it cable linkage or rods?
A thread on the subject along with a spiffy illustration:

Sadly, no, it is not OEM linkage. My usual suppliers don't have the linkage for some reason (either that or I'm too ignorant to find it). It is so weak that I can bend it with two fingers. It is the stock type of linkage, the material is just very weak and lasts a very short amount of time.
It has the 360 with the 4 Speed Syn. Warner T-18 trans in it.
1967/72 F100/350's with V8 engines have a bellcrank that bolts to the rear of the intake manifold, the carburetor rods attach to it.
The problem is that the bellcrank has nylon bushings that crack apart, they cannot be replaced by themselves, so...when this occurs, the carb rods flop around.

Yes, it goes by several different names on different distributors, most call it a carburetor linkage, so that's what I call it.
It's just a spring retaining clip. who ever told you it's linkage doesn't know what they are talking about. Those clips come in left /right and different diameters. If you find the correct one your problem will probably go away. At most part stores you can buy a package with an assortment of them..

That's what my issue is. The ones from part stores that are an assortment are extremely cheaply made and do not last. They shouldn't be easily bent, and can be bent with just two fingers. I've gone through tons of the ones in the link you sent me.
My parts catalogs don't go back that far, but if this is the clip you're looking for (C7TZ-9826-A), Green Sales in Cincinnati, OH has 182 of them (800) 543-4959.
I would also take a long hard look at the rest of your linkage. It sounds like there are other issues going on. Usually these clips are pretty trouble free.
