Anyone have any thoughts on the TCI Trans-Scat C6 Shift Kit ? I'm looking for a firmer, more responsive shift under higher R's. I like the auto but when I wanna
"git in it" I want the trans to respond to the mild mod '86 EFI to Carb Conversion 302 that I built. Feedback is very much appreciated.
If you want to play with the shift points, you can do that now by using a small screwdriver or allen wrench(whatever it takes) and go back to the pass side rear corner of the tranny and pull the vacuum line off the modulator. Put the screwdriver or allen wrench up in the hole and give it half a turn and see what happens. It will make the shifts later or earlier.
You can put a shift kit in it for firmer shifts, but I would not over do it.
I'm running a Superior transmission shift improvement kit. For $20 it firmed up my shifts a bit and made the trans shift like new again. However I think the $40 transgo kit is the best for the money.
Thanks All for the response. I'm going to try Franklin2's recommendation first but I am keeping the TransGo suggestions up front. I'm wanting to put a 7ft. snowplow on it for Our crappy Northeast Ohio winters to clean Our rural 15x300 ft. driveway.
Would adjusting shift points help or hurt with a plow? (I'm thinking firmer)?
This is a very solid South Carolina truck that I bought for $350 from CL with shredded main bearings and only have $650 in the 70k '86 engine purchase/rebuild/conversion. I'm all about building the most with the least as I'm sure We all are.
Again....
Thanks to All.
Adjusting the vacuum shift modulator will make a difference. But, it won't be quite the same as a shift kit. As shift kits often fix common problems the model of transmission it's going in.

I always plowed with mine in L1. The tranny did not shift, I did not want it to. I never went that fast and you have more control when you lift your foot off the gas.
The C6 has tranny is stronger mechanically in 1 than in D. So when plowing keep in 1. I cant explain it, but a lifetime tranny builder showed me the difference. There are more parts engaged when manually shifted into 1 .
