I would like to know if anyone has an electroin shift kit on there truck like from jet or b&m...I read the thread on the other shift kits for this trans but the electronic one sounds much easier...What does everyone think of the electronic shift kits????

All the electronic shift kit does is raise the pressure in the transmission causing it to shift faster and harder. I have heard of clicking noises caused by this, but overall it does work.

A valve body shift kit changes pressures individually on different circuits doing basically the same thing, but it changes shift points as well. Its known to be more reliable, from what I've heard.

The electric shift kit isn't bad, and you can always remove it if you don't like it.

i have the electronic shift kit from b&m and i really like it. its awesome how it shifts much firmer. and there's a switch to go back to stock or go to level 2 which are really hard shifts. This kit is great and i hope it makes my trans last longer like its advertised. it was a piece of cake to install too.

I've got a B&M electronic shift improver in my 96 F150. I'm going to be replacing it with a B&M trans pack this summer.

The electronic shift improver was quite simple to install, but I'm not terribly impressed with it. It gives a little bit firmer shifts but their still to mushy for my tastes.

I installed a B&M transpack [real shift kit] in my 86 F150. There is simply no comparison between a electronic kit and valve body kit, the real shift kit is much better.

So since my trans had almost 190,000 miles on it do you think it will hurt it or help it???

Does anybody know where I could find a new or used shift cable for this same tranny but it is in a 1992 f150 4x4? It is the cable that goes from the bottom of the steering colum to the shift arm on the side of the transmission.

Dealer ships sell those cables new. I think they are about $50-80. Or, if your up for junkyards you could get one for just a couple bucks.

For an E4OD?It's a 2 piece cable...there is a short one that goes from the column to underneath the dash and from there there is another that goes through the firewall to the tranny.....I think I've got one...pretty sure of it...try finding one at the junkyard before you go buying new....if you don't have any luck drop me a line and I'll see if I've still got it...Later
