Antifreeze Question

Looking under the hood as some wiring I ran for a few LED lights and noticed that my antifreeze level was down a couple of inches in that big of plastic tank up around the brake master cylinder.

So what's the recommendation? Top it off with distilled water, make a trip to the dealer and buy some over priced Motorcraft antifreeze, or run to the nearest Walmart or auto parts store and pick up a gallon of matched spec antifreeze.

Yes, I am still under warranty at 27,500 miles. No I haven't seen any puddles of antifreeze under, around or near the truck lately. No I haven't smelt the sweet smell of antifreeze while driving or sitting in the truck.

Since we are looking at projected temps above 106 this week I feel I would be best to top the coolant level off.

I'd top off with distilled water.

You could do either of the two. Most likely the level is down due to the expansion of the degas bottles and the hoses due to the heat. I'd use ONLY Ford coolant and then still mix 50/50 with distilled water to replace the deficit. I'd also buy another a radiator cap to keep in the truck just in case the spring in it gets weak.

I had that happen over the winter. Now I am overfull.

If you add, just don't add to the full line. that is what I did and now I am overfuel.

I have no idea but the same thing happened.

Looks were a bit deceiving, with a step stool and flash light I could tell it was sitting right at the bottom of the cold fill line. I did add a little distilled water and brought it up to just over the bottom cold fill line.

Thanks guys,
