okay so im trying to add some personality to the beast and well i cant seem to remove the shift **** to add an aftermarket one. is there some frickin special way to do it? this thing is like welded on it seems (impossible since its plastic/rubber). any advice?
AFAIK most are glued or pressed on the shaft. Not easily removable without damage to the shifter ****. That's the way my Ranger was. Of course, it came off itself a couple times....
Big channel locks or hammer it off like Brad suggested. You didn't say what you're gonna replace it with but most aftermarket ***** have 3 allen screws in them to hold them onto the shift lever. These SUCK big time and will always be coming loose on you. I suggest you find one that doesn't use these, or find some other way to attach your new piece.
i got it off using the pliers and hammer that is harder to do than a frickin intake mani gasket :P also the one im replacing it with is suppose to be pressed on it seems and came with a glue or something....or it might be a lube to get it on since the new one is just as hard to get on as it was to get the old one off
