Hi all,
I have a '94 Ranger w/5 speed and am trying to remove the shift ****. I cant figure out how it comes off. Is it pressed on? Glued? Welded? All of the above?
I could use some help here, please.
TIA
it is just pressed on......there are splines on the stick and in the ****.......I ended up trashing mine when i took it off to do my clutch(I found out later I did not have to remove it for the clutch).....you can heat the crap out of it if you are not worried about trashing it ..I got a new one at the JY
The center cap on my old broken shifter **** in the 2001 model popped out with a flathead screwdriver. then the splines can be seen and the **** should come off without loosening any bolts or nuts.
I got a very nice replacement **** from Ford, fits good and feels like orginal.
Straddle the center console, one leg on each side. Grip the **** with both hands and pull straight up. Caution, the know will want to smack you in the nose when it comes loose. Reattach using super glue on the splines.
