There is no oil temp gauge on these engines. Coolant temp, oil pressure. Both are basically idiot lights. What year of truck? Auto or manual?

Y'know, there needs to be a forum requirement that everyone has to have their truck's information in their signature...................................

Anyhow, welcome to the forum.

Have you read all of the threads at the top of the page titled "Read First"? If not you would set yourself at a great advantage to do so immediately.

Sorry I didn't know I'm a newbie

It's a 92 Ford F-350 7.3L Banks sidewinder turbo thanks for the info. I got the truck from my brother and he didn't know anything about that gauge it's just in the gauge pod and it says oil temp so I wasn't sure if anyone knew what and where it went to, I'm really a ricer and thought I would try something new, I helped with putting the engine and tranny in so I know a very little bit but he drives truck and it's really hard to get a hold of him to ask any questions. If I don't need this gauge I need to replace it with something but what I have a boost gauge and a pyro meter already and the cluster has all the other gauges any suggestions please and again I'm sorry for not having all my info on here

That might be a trans temp gauge. The sender for that would be in the test port on the drivers side of the transmission.

"Gauge pod" means it's aftermarket, by definition. Might have been helpful to mention that in the opening post. There's no way any of us could guess where the previous owner installed the sensor associated with an aftermarket gauge.

I'm new at Diesel but not to turbos and superchargers Im a ricer so I've built engines from bare blocks to 1200 hp at the wheels but this is totally different than I'm use to but I'm going to learn this new world of trucks thanks all for the help I think I'm just going to take out the gauge and put another gauge in there

That crap may work on a rice burner forum. You don't come on here ask for help, not give any information that needed. Apparently you take offense to being told to read the post makes Read First. Then you have the nerve to say there are smart @@@ on this forum. As far as I am concerned let you ricer forums help you out

I was not trying g to be rude it rubbed me the wrong way when you asked for help and turned around and made the Comment about smart ***. No one was giving you that type answer from what I read. We need to know your truck information to help. There are several post at the very first of this forum that has a wealth of knowledge that will answer your questions. The only computer on these trucks is the standalone for the E4OD automatic transmission. Any way welcome

Yea I know that's the only computer on this truck I was asking about a sending unit for a gauge that's in my truck but I now know I don't need that gauge and can throw it out. It was a gaug I've never seen before so that's why I asked about it see us ricers don't have that particular gauge in our cars so I just asked and how that guy answered me rubbed me wrong because I'm far from stupid cuz I blue print all my crews engines and build them for drift and drag racing but I decided to try something new and try out Diesel engines and I know something's about them there's still a lot I want to learn so I can start doing the same things with these engines because some of my friends are getting into IDI Diesel engines and the more I know the better I'll be at building engines for them plus = more money for me cuz I don't work for free. Mechanics is my bread and butter and that's how I make a living. Thanks again and have a good night
