i was just wondering if a oil temp gauge is needed??
mods to truck
air intake
4" turbo back exhaust
SCT programmer
should i be worried about monitoring my oil temp?
the reason i ask is that im going to install a 4 gauge pillar and im trying to decide on what gauges to install??
thinking of.....
100psi fuel pressure gauge
1500 EGT gauge
tans temp guage
and a boost psi gauge
oil temp is one of the most important (if not the most) gauge to have with a 6.0. If it were me I would do away with the turbo boost gauge and get an oil temp instead. It is really important to keep a close eye on the EOT/ECT deltas. Since you have a 06 you should have the factory boost gauge in the cluster. It actually is one of the only factory gauges that works pretty good.
I would also replace the trans temp gauge with a PYRO. Although the stock trans temp is pretty much useless, at leat there is one. Being a tuned truck, I would want to see EGT's along with FP, EOT, ECT.
Oh yes, Pyro and EGT are the same. I guess I miss ready the original post.
I would still do away with the trans temp (if you were only going with 4), and replace it with ECT. The reason is the same as EOT. You really want to keep an eye on the deltas between ECT and EOT. Very, Very important with the 6.0
So with a 4 gauge setup here is what I would recomend for you
ECT
EOT
EGT
FP
