Power Problems...
This is my first post and I am hoping that I could get some pointers in the right direction...
My baby, a 93 F-250 7.3 IDI diesel is having some power problems. As in she has no power!
I had her out the other day and I was able to start her fine, and then the next try, she had no power what so ever. I was unable to get any of the typical start up lights, and needed to use a jump to get started.
I am thinking either a short somewhere, or a blown fuse.
Anyone have any other suggestions?
I appreciate all your input in advance...
A couple of points of information.
1. The batteries are about 3 years old.
2. The starter is about 2 years old.
3. Alternator... I haven't seen the typical slow loss of power when an alternator goes out, when its not recharging the batteries.
4. We checked the battery terminals, and they seemed fine, no corrosion to speak of.
you need a multimeter to test the voltage at the batteries before starting and after starting with engine running, this will tell you what is really going on.
We did some diagnostics at home with a multimeter and found that the battery terminals are having some issues. Looks like I'll be replacing them soon!
The multimeter showed ~12.6 on the battery posts and ~14.3 (approx) on the terminals, though the terminals showed different readings on different locations on the terminal.
Thanks again for the input!
