Boost reading with tunes

I have heard that if your truck is tuned the stock boost gauge and any reading from the OBDII port will not be correct. Does anyone know how far off the readings are? I am trying to decide if it is worth adding the edge pressure sensor for my Insight.

That's BS...

Boost is boost and live data is live data, the numbers don't change.

Its actually true because the tune has to lie to a few sensors in order to achieve the performance you're looking for. If the PCM were able to see actual boost readings from the MAP it would defuel the truck.

plumb in a boost gauge to the MAP hose if you want to really see boost levels that are 100% accurate.

And OBD2 readings? Then why is it that almost every thread starts with what's live data say, readings from the OBD2 port?

I would thing most would say... well your gauge is not really anything real or believable. I would agree that some of the data may be off because of tuning and that some of the installed gauges are just a gauge to give a gauge. But the truck is reading the live data to make adjustments to actual parameters required to operate and that most of the data is pretty accurate to a degree.

Depends on the gauge set and how they derive the boost number. If the digital gauge is using MAP and calculating off baro for example or just using the PCM reported boost value.

However some tuners do have the reading lower than actual and some will even zero out after a certain boost. One of my looney tunes zeroes out after about 23 psi.
